The chap who runs Blas Store is so friendly and helpful!
What a clever idea, opening a wee deli like this, just along the road from their popular wee local restaurant. Letting us get our hands on the raw ingredients they use in the restaurant is a real stroke of genius.
Now I'm trying out my own versions of some Blas specials. He gives me advice about cooking whatever I'm trying out - only if I ask, mind!
The 1st time I went into Blas Store I was in search of fresh scallops, and if possible some fresh mussels- still in their shells.
My girlfriend was nervous about a dinner party we were hosting - and I was getting an earful while she let off some steam ;-)
Blas Store had both, so I was able to get back promptly and carry on helping Aud and keeping her calm.
A wonderful meal was served up, partly thanks to Blas Store... and yours truly, a little.

I think I've seen the man you mean, Veronica...
It made my smile to myself, actually. He was leaning over a box packed with ice, and there were different fish staring back at him and the lady he was speaking to.
I could make out that he was trying to persude her to try one type over another, because it was easier to grill... or something like that.
She didn't look too convinced. But he had some good reasons she should give it a try. She did, too.
He really knows his stuff, and I heard him mentioning suppliers like they're friends. This is good for us, because he gets the best that's going from those guys.
