OR book a table for another day  La Vallee Blanche has a discreet entrance that is easy to miss. But once you make it upstairs, it really does feel like being in an Alpine ski lodge. Charming staff greet diners and show them to their tables. If you have a party of about six, ask in advance for one of two round tables near the windows. Subtle lighting, funky wine bottle racks and dark wood panelled walls create a relaxed, extremely tasteful atmosphere. And the food matches up very nicely indeed! Take your time over a starter of potted French rabbit or Loch Fyne rock oysters. Then move graciously on to a main course that might be a mouth watering Osso Bucco of veal, or Gressingham duck breast. Whatever you choose, your meal will be prepared to perfection. Wines are mostly French, and include one or two fine champagnes for those with something big to celebrate. Spirits and liqueurs are spot on, including a favourite dram, Glengoyne! This West End restaurant really is a class act. From the beautiful lady maitre'd to the well groomed wait staff, lovely decor and perfect meals, everything is handled with apparently effortless ease.
