Happy days with Granny

by Hamish
(Glasgow Kelvinside)

Oran Mor has SO MUCH going on!

Its not only a beautiful old building, it has several different spaces. There's a big bar on the ground floor, with a really special bar right in the centre.

There's an auditorium for plays and banquets, a basement club and a room for smaller functions. Then there's a brasserie and room to eat in the main bar.

When I take days off, every so often, I sometimes take my Granny to Oran Mor, 'cos she loves 'A Play, A Pie and A Pint'. And she really does drink a pint! She's so cool, is my Granny.

I love spending time with her. She's dead into performing arts, and Oran Mor has got it right. We never know exactly what we're gonna see. But somehow that isn't the point. Trying something new is the name of the game.

Anyway, enough about my days off. I just wanted to let yuo know that there's plenty to Oran Mor. Its not your average church-converted-into-a-bar type of place.

Slanj!

Hamish

Return of a local legend...
by: Ryan

There's a real happy atmosphere in Oran Mor. A zest for life, and an energy I cannot resist.

Mixed with the wild variety of things going on, I'm not surprised its such a success.

I understand that they've taken the GENIUS step of bringing 'Cleopatra' back to life! No, not the Egyptian Queen, whose last words might have been "Get your hands off my asp!"

I mean the club that used to be in Kelvinbridge, and was fondly known locally as Clatty Pats. Nice one, Oran Mor! I know the club is only once in a while... but you're tapping into local culture in a BIG way.

I'll be seein' ya at Clatty Pats, babes!

A dram with Dad
by: Patrick Hughes

That's a nice story about outings with Granny.

I drop into Oran Mor with my Dad from time to time. He's not a city guy, really, coming from and living in the Borders all his life. But he does like a malt!

And Oran Mor has got more than you could shake a caber at... Last time he visited, in we went. Remembering our week in Speyside, a couple of different drams from that neck of Scotland's fine woods went down a treat.

Thanks, Oran Mor. From Dad and I.

Patrick
