Fascinating Scotland Street School

My Mum used to be a teacher, and when she came to visit me in the 'Big Smoke' recently, she begged to be taken to Scotland Street School.
I wasn't all that interested, but agreed to take her anyway. Was I in for a pleasant surprise or what!
Easy to find, we took the underground to Shields Road, and the school is right across the street.
It was amazing! The building is by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and it really was fit for purpose. The massive windows and striking tiles are gorgeous.
But what really blew both Mum and I away were the classrooms, and all the stuff on show, putting it all in context.
I'd completely forgotten about those coloured wooden rods that we used, when learning basic arithmatic - all those long years ago.
I'm so HAPPY Mum persuaded me to take her to Scotland Street School! What an enjoyable eye-opener.
