Elegance and Style...

by Nathan Hughes
(Newton Mearns, Glasgow)

We first wandered into St Andrews in the Square at Doors Open Day one year. We've been fans ever since!

Those pillars, and the striking organ, are gorgeous. Its easy to see that a lot of expertise went into the restoration work.

Anyway, a few months later my wife Alison was invited to a dinner, and wasn't keen to go until she found out it was in St Andrews in the Square. We were both invited - one of those charity corporate 'black tie' affairs.

We had a wonderful evening. The company and food were both excellent. And a young lady played the harp for most of the evening.

Check it out if you get the chance. And there's a decent cafe in the basement. Its well worth a look as well.

All the best.

Nathan

Leading the way...
by: Stuart R

Since the refurbishment, St Andrews in the Square has been working hard to attract as many different events, shows and concerts. Good for them - and for us!

The more people who find out how grand and stylish St Andrews in the Square is, the better.

I think it os helping to lead this area of the city into a new 21st century style. No doubt the Commonwealth Games in 2012 will continue this fantastic trend.

All the best.

Versatile venue
by: Melany

I've never been in St Andres in the Square. Its a bit of a well-kept secret, isn't it?

I know it holds animpressive range of events, from wedding receptions to recital, concerts and the like.

My sister attended the 'Big Gay Prom' at the 2007 Glasgay festival there, and she said it was a really unusual, but fun, venue.

I think a day out having a look inside followed by something to eat in Cafe Source sounds like fun.

Thanks for the hints, guys.

Accoustics aplenty
by: Hal

I wandered in one Doors Open Day too.

I thought it was gonna be quite impressive, but I was bowled over by the huge space inside, with all those intricate pillars and stained glass windows.

A few months later I attended an evening of Vivaldi 'highlights'. The accoustics are pretty hot in St Andrews in the Square.

Yes, I am indeed a star-struck fan of this wonderful venue.

Hal
